Paternity, like Custody, can be very difficult. A Paternity case can be used to establish a legal father but are also used to remove a father's status as the legal father. These cases can be and are initiated by either the mother or the father of the minor child. Often a parent needs support for the minor child that they are not receiving because the father has not been made legal. Other times a father may have signed an affidavit or parentage but has since found out that he is not the biological father of the minor child. At Carpenter & Judd Attorneys and Counselors, we have handled and successfully litigated each of these types of cases. If this is an issue you are facing, we would be happy to speak to you about your options.
